For the first time in 23 years there is no V8 engine on the list of Ward’s Auto’s 10 best engines, writes Ward’s auto; http://wardsauto.com/2017/seven-turbos-three-hybrids-share-wards-10-best-engines-honors.
Due to the progress of turbocharging technology, many 6 cylinder engines create enough horsepower and torque to substitute the 8 cylinder engines, writes Ward’s auto, which have slowly decreased in the past years. The same trend can be seen from 6 to 4 cylinder engines, and 4 cylinder engines are also dominating the market as well as Ward’s list of best engines. In fact, besides from 2 hybrid engines on the list, all other 8 best awarded engines are turbocharged, including 1 hybrid.
Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine Europe B.V. expect this trend to only continue further in the coming future, where more hybrid engines also will become turbocharged.
